About
Speaker - Dr. Bruce Bright
Hello! I am Dr. Bruce Bright...
or Bruce Bright, PhD, LtCol (retired), CPC, ELI-MP, MBTI-CP
I decided to write this section as a more informal introduction to who I am, rather than the typical bio that robotically lists all of my history. If you'd like to see my formal bio, that will be included below as well. But I thought it would be helpful to introduce you to the man behind all those accomplishments. If you asked my friends and colleagues, they would probably describe me as an extremely knowledgable guy with a big type-A personality, a strong-willed man with equally strong beliefs and a hard-core family man.
Now, I know, in my name above, that is a lot of letters or designations behind my name. I won't go into all the details explaining each one (unless you ask me to). The reason I included all of that here was to demonstrate my passion for life-long learning. You see...I have an innate curiosity and strong desire to continue increasing my knowledge, especially when it comes to leadership and wellness topics. Not sure where this continuous drive for more information comes from, but I don't think I will ever not want to continue striving to learn new things. For example, I am working on learning Spanish right now.
Why do I want you to know this about me? I feel like my desire for learning is a huge asset when it comes to being a speaker, for my leadership training processes, and well, for everything that I do.
Calling me a 'hard-core family man' couldn't be more accurate. I am very lucky to have my beautiful wife of 25 years by my side...she's a saint for putting up with me for so long. I also have three adult children that I couldn't be more proud to call mine. Plus, I am about to become a grandfather soon! However, if you know me, then you know that my 'family man' reach extends far beyond my family at home. My true family includes all the people I know and love....former military connections, clients that have become close friends, neighbors, friends past and present. If you know me now or have known me in the past, you have a special place in my heart as part of my extend family.
Many people dread the stage and speaking in front of groups. I am NOT one of those people. I truly enjoy sharing my stories and knowledge to crowds of all sizes. Sharing what I know and lessons I've learned with people from all over makes me happy. If I can impart even just a small piece of wisdom to get people thinking, then I consider that a success. My speeches usually include a mix of a little humor with a little seriousness, and maybe even some audience participation, in order to get my point across. My goal in the end is to leave the audience members with some 'takeaways' or things on which to think and reflect.
